Do you love the oilpatch, but hate the endless driving on snowy gravel roads at all hours of the day or night?
Do you like working with computers and believe that good software is critical for running a successful oilpatch operation?
If so, then this position may be for you!
Caribou Software is a young, vibrant, and small but growing company specializing in industry-specific business software solutions for companies in resource-based industries. Over the last seven years, we have grown the customer base for our forestry contractor software from 20 companies to over 200 throughout North America, and we are looking to achieve that same success with our latest software system designed specifically for small to mid-sized oil service contractors.
We are seeking a self-motivated sales representative to help us penetrate the oil service contractor market in Western Canada. Ideally, you have spent time in the field, you understand the oilpatch service contracting business, and you recognize the value of software tools for streamlining the volumes of paperwork associated with the business. If you have ambition and drive to sell software, if you thrive on the challenge of a good "hunt," and if you get a charge out of helping entrepreneurial companies be successful in their business ventures, you may be a good fit for this position.
The position is purely commission-based, with a small base for the first six-months as you learn the software and establish yourself in the role. That means you have to be a risk-taker who is seeking the freedom to direct your own career and have control over your compensation.
While you need not relocate to Hinton, you will need to spend time regularly at our offices, particularly during the first three months, and you will need to be centrally located for easy access to Alberta's oilpatch industry base. Much of the lead generation and sales work will be done by phone, but there is a definite requirement to be able to travel onsite to close the sale and/or for after-sales project kick-off.
The candidate's background and interests will determine their overall role within our organization. Candidates with a computer science background will have the opportunity to work closely with our developers to assist with coding projects and technical troubleshooting. Candidates with a business, accounting, or industry background will have the opportunity to become more involved in client trainings and business consultation.
