The Logger's Edge is an accounting program designed to work in tandem with your regular accounting system. For many logging operations, Simply Accounting, Quickbooks, ACCPAC, Peachtree Accounting are essential tools, but are limited in their ability to handle some of the more important aspects of the logging business. What is the Logger's Edge?

The Logger's Edge Manages Your:

Load Slips

The Logger's Edge handles your load slips and pay all your employees and subcontractors for all phases related to timber harvesting. You can have an unlimited number of phases (or activities) and individuals paid on any load

The Logger's Edge tracks and reports production to the cut-block or tract level for each phase, machine or employee for any time period. Set production goals for each harvesting phase by block and machine and then compare them to actual values.

Use the reporting capabilities and integrate production, expense and revenue information for blocks or tracts in progress or completed.

Time Slips

The Logger's Edge handles your time slips and pay all your employees and subcontractors for all phases related to timber harvesting. You can have any number of slips for an employee for a day, reflecting all the different activities performed, or the equipment operated, on that day

The Logger's Edge produces payroll and accounts payable and receivable entries that can be input into your accounting system. Know your revenues and expenses for both logging operations and other contract work. With a few keystrokes, generate the information to pay log trucks, subcontractors, and employees.

Equipment Costing

The Logger's Edge uses your time slips to track equipment utilization and the hours worked by each machine. You can set up standard costing rates (with or without the cost of the operator) and then calculate your costs by activity and by work area. You can assign equipment to a revenue stream (or contract) and calculate the profit earned for that revenue contract

Trucking or Hauling

The Logger's Edge allows you to manage your own or subcontractor log trucks. You can pay them by weight, by the load, by distance. You can even set a minimum pay amount. For those who track overloads, you can set up overload weights by truck, by season, and then deduct truck pay for the amount of the overload. Need to know round-trip times? The Logger's Edge can track cycle times between your logging areas and the mills to which you are making deliveries.

The Logger's Edge is a robust software application that ensures the integrity of your data:

One Database: The Logger's Edge uses Microsoft Access as its to store its data. What does this mean to you? It means:

• All your data is stored in one place -- no more searching for the right MS Excel file
• Data is keyed in once. For example, if you setup an employee once, you can use pick lists to fill in the employee's name anywhere else you need
• Changes cause all related to be updated automatically. For example, you change an employee's name or employee number -- all time slips for the employee are automatically updated.
• You cannot make keypunch spelling errors. The database will NOT save data that is not valid. For example, you set up employee Bob Feller with employee number 1010 -- you cannot save a time slip with Bob's last name spelled Fellar or with his number 1100.

The Logger's Edge is Configurable

• Use The Logger's Edge to configure your load tickets and daily employee time tickets so that they have only those attributes that you want. What's more, you can name them anything you want. The Logger's Edge supports all different types of weight or volume measures so you can track or pay on any basis (e.g., ton, tonne, cord, MBF, cubic metre) you need to. Date formats? The Logger's Edge uses whatever setting you have for your computer. You get to set the terminology used in The Logger's Edge.
