The Mechanic's Edge Manages Your:

Work Orders

The Mechanic's Edge allows you to create and manage work orders for your mechanics.  You can create a printable form that is issued to a mechanic for work to be performed.  The mechanic uses the form to record his activities and hours, as well as any fluids, parts, third-party services, etc used for the job.

Equipment Maintenance Scheduling

The Mechanic's Edge allows you to monitor and schedule work that needs to be performed on your equipment units.  You set up maintenance schedules for each type of equipment and then track when maintenance needs to be performed based on the service meter of the machine.  "I forgot!" is no longer an excuse for missing a critical maintenance requirement.

Parts Inventory

The Mechanic's Edge allows you to keep track of your parts inventory.  You can set up multiple inventory locations and maintain a count of all your parts on hand.  When you create a work order, your parts are automatically removed from inventory.  You can also set up a minimum inventory that is used to create a shopping list when you need to reorder parts.

Equipment Costs

The Mechanic's Edge provides key management reports that allow you to track the costs of maintaining your heavy equipment.  Reports include the full cost of labor for your mechanics, the cost of parts, plus the cost of any payments to outside vendors for additional work.

 

The Mechanic's Edge is a robust software application that ensures the integrity of your data:

One Database: The Mechanic's Edge uses a Microsoft Access or (SQL Server) database to store its data. What does this mean to you? It means:

• All your data are stored in one place -- no more searching for the right MS Excel file.
• Data are keyed in once. For example, if you setup a piece of equipment once, you can use pick lists to fill in that piece of equipment anywhere else you need.
• Changes cause all related data to be updated automatically. For example, you change a mechanic's name or part number -- all related records are then automatically updated.
• You cannot make keypunch spelling errors. The database will NOT allow entry of data that are not valid. For example, suppose you set up an equipment unit  named with a code CAT-D9-1022.  You cannot save a mechanic time slip with a code of 'CAT-1022'.  All data entry is validated when keyed to ensure data consistency and integrity.

The Mechanic's Edge is Configurable

• The Mechanic's Edge is quite configurable, so we can incorporate your terminology directly into the software.  The lists included in the software are all defined by you -- equipment types, service types, and equipment maintenance schedules are all defined to fit your business.  You get to set the terminology used in The Mechanic's Edge.
• Date formats?  The Mechanic's Edge uses whatever setting you have for your computer. 
• The Mechanic's Edge allows you to create a work order dynamically based on the unit's maintenance schedule and the current service meter reading.  The Mechanic's Edge flags for you when a maintenance requirement is coming due or is past due.

• Looking up a work order is a piece of cake.  If you need to edit a work order, you can call it up by work order number or pick it from a list filtered by equipment unit, date, etc.
