The Trucker's Edge is a management cost accounting program designed to work in tandem with your regular accounting system. For many trucking operations, accounting systems such as Simply Accounting, Quickbooks, or ACCPAC are essential tools, but are limited in their ability to handle some of the more important aspects of the trucking business. The Trucker's Edge has a robust overload tracking system that allows you to track and deduct pay for overloads either based on mill policy or based on your own policy. Overloads can be based on gross or net weights and deductions can be made at a flat rate or a rate based on the weight over the allowable threshold.
The Trucker's Edge allows you to automatically keep track of on-highway and off-highway kilometers for filing for a refund of your off highway fuel usage. Administrators at the BC Taxation branch have welcomed filings from our users, commenting that the fuel rebate reports generated by The Trucker's Edge help streamline their review process. In fact, they would like to encourage more automated submissions like the ones provided by our users.The Trucker's Edge produces payroll and accounts payable and receivable entries that can be input into your accounting system (or automatically transferred if you use Quickbooks as your accounting system). Know your revenues and expenses for your hauling or other operations, such as low-bedding. With just a few keystrokes, you can generate the information to pay your drivers and any subcontractors, and you can review revenue earned on a truck-by-truck basis. In fact, you can even calculate your expected revenues from each customer using our system, so that when you receive your cheques, you can balance your expected revenue with your actual revenue.
The Trucker's Edge allows you to track all time spent by your mechanics on each truck. You can have any number of entries for your mechanics for a day, reflecting all the different activities performed and/or trucks worked on that day. You can then generate reports showing what maintenance and repair work was done by whom and on what date so that you can proactively manage your maintenance scheduling. You can also generate reports showing the costs of both your mechanic's time spent on each truck, as well as all external costs associated with repairs and parts for that truck.
The Trucker's Edge comes with a costing worksheet that allows you to build up your standard costs for each truck based on operating expenses (fuel, maintenance, repairs, etc), and ownership costs, such as depreciation, insurance and interest.
