| Small Sawmills | The Cutting Edge allows you to handle your vendor settlements for all your logging contractors. The program handles all load slips and contractor pay, as well as job production and costing. You can track your stumpage or depletion against your cruise and your lump-sum purchase amount. There is an extensive set of analytical reports that comes as a standard part of the program. This program also comes with an integrated weigh scale module that allows you to enter loads directly into the system from your company's weigh scale. |

The program handles all load slips and time slips, employee and subcontractor pay, truck costing, as well as special rules such as those for fuel adjustments, overloads or payment for self-loading trucks. |

The work order system allows you to track your daily worker orders from the time the work is completed, to when it is submitted for approval, to when it is authorized for payment and to when you invoice your customer. |
What is the Caribou Edge?
Our software is designed with four basic principles in mind:
1. Single Data Entry

We never ever want you to enter the same piece of data
more than once. Whether it is a load slip or a time slip, you will
never have to key it more than once. In fact, our load import
function is configurable and allows you to import files from virtually
any mill, saving you from the job of keying every load slip.
Because all your data is stored in a relational database, all
vendor and employee pay, equipment and job costing and management
reporting are all served by a single unified set of data.
2. Flexibility
Our software accommodates all types of weights and measures, whether it is tons or cords or cubic metres, whatever measures you need you can configure in our system. Your terminology for load slips or time slips is up to you -- our system allows you to design your own time slip and load slip format. Pay rates for employees or contractors can be based on time or weight or volume, or even such units as distance, ton-miles, shifts -- virtually any basis you can think of.
3. Best Industry Practices

Our software incorporates what we refer to as 'Best Practices.'
Based on our industry experience and exposure to a variety of
operations, we have sought to identify those practices that are most
valuable. For example, we incorporate a worksheet to develop your
equipment standard cost that is derived from those used by several
companies. Our methodology for developing a cruise budget and
setting depletion rates provides an effective means to track production
on a job. You can track your job costs on a phase-by-phase basis
in order to assess which phases are over or under budget. For log
trucks, the ability to cost by tonne-hour mimics certain practices
utilized by sawmills. You can track your truck turn-around times
and compare those to what your mills estimate. As our knowledge
base grows and evolves, we plan to upgrade our software over time to
incorporate continually new and enhanced features.
4. User-friendly Interface

We constantly strive to make our software as user-friendly as possible.
We know your time is important and can't be wasted in trying to figure
out a new program. Our interface is designed to make it easy to
add, edit, or delete your lists for employees, vendors, destinations,
etc. We make every effort to make our reports understandable and
to convey the critical data in a meaningful way. Through all of
our design and development processes, we listen to what you say and watch how you
work with the software so that we can continually refine and improve how
you interact with the software. Even the smallest detail - for
example, the ordering of lists in a grid - is not too small to
grab our attention if it makes a big difference to you.
