Report: Block Hourly Equipment Summary
(#141)
|
|
Why:
You need a report that shows your costs per volume and volume per hour for each activity
associated with your own harvesting equipment, based on a fully founded hourly rate.
Focus:
This report provides a summary of productivity by phase (volume harvested / productive hours). It also shows costs per
volume based on the "full" equipment hourly
rates, rather than the standard hourly machine rates and your actual hourly labor costs.
Note: This report includes full-founded costs associated with your own
equipment (whether the machine is operated by your own employee or a
subcontracted worker). It does, however, exclude costs associated
with hourly subcontracted owner/operators. It also excludes load-based
payments, production slip payments, and miscellaneous expenses.
Note: This report also shows the equipment productivity by phase. It is important to understand that the equipment productivity is calculated using the total
volume harvested on the block and NOT the volume produced by the individual piece of equipment (volume harvested on the block / each equipment’s productive hours).
Selection Window:
The selection window allows you to filter the report by:
- Date/Time. You can directly ender a date/time range for the start
and end dates for your report. If you leave the end time blank, the
program will assume you want the entire day for the end date. In the
example below, the start date/time is 8/1/2004 00:00:00 (a blank is assumed
to be time 00:00:00) and the end date/time is 8/15/2004 00:00:00.
Because the end date time is blank (or 00:00:00), the program assumes you
want the whole day of the 15th and makes the end date/time 8/16/2004
00:00:00. In the selection query, the program returns records
whose start date/time is greater than OR equal to the start/date time and strictly
less than the end date/time. You do not need to select a period
-- this selection is merely used to facilitate the entry of the state and
end dates. If you select a period, you can always edit the state and
end dates to be any date you choose. For example, you can pick a
period defined as 8/1/2004 to 8/12/2004, and then extend the end date by
three days to 8/15/2004.
- Block. You can select any or all of your block.
- The "Use Cruise Volume" option calculates the cost per volume
(e.g., M3) and volume per hour using the block's cruise volume rather then the actual volume recorded against the block.
- The "Use Available Hrs" option calculates the volume (e.g., M3) per hour using the
available equipment hours rather then the productive equipment hours.

Detailed Description:
The selection criteria determine the date range and blocks that appear in the report. If you run the report for multiple blocks, you will get one panel per block.
The report is based on your timeslip entries. Company owned equipment time is included on the report,
but subcontracted equipment time is not.
Each panel in the report begins with a header for the selected block.
The header includes:
- Block: block where work is performed
- Description: The Description of the block where the work is performed
- Vol/Tree: The Estimated Volume per Tree, this field is entered on the block
The body of the report lists each piece of equipment used on the block,
grouped by phase. The columns are:
- Phase: Pay Activity Group associated with the Activity coded on the time slip
- Eq Code: The code for the equipment unit
- Prod. Hours: Total hours for time coded as production time. In the basic activities list above, there is a check box for "Production Time".
Any activity that is coded to a basic activity type checked as "Production Time" will be included as Production Hours.
(See the Setup | Pay Activity Types menu item.) Hours coded as non-maintenance,
non-production time will be counted as available hours, but not production hours. For example, the pay activity "DOWN" (Down Time), is coded as basic type "OTHER"
(Other Non-Chargeable Time). Thus, down hours would be included as available time, but not as production time
- Avail Hours: The total hours for the equipment unit, except for hours coded as maintenance time. In the
Activity Type list (Setup | Pay Activity Types), there is a check box for
"Maintenance Time". Any activity that is coded to a basic activity type checked as "Maintenance Time" will be EXCLUDED from the Total Available Hours.
(Note: if a machine performs 100 hours of loading and 200 hours of
piling, and has a total of 30 down hours, 1/3 of the 30 hours will be
assumed to be down time for loading, and 2/3 of the 30 hours will be assumed
to be down time for piling. The available hours for loading would thus
be 110, and for piling would be 220.)
- Utilization (%):Percentage of Total Available Hours that are Production Hours. This Percentage provides a measure of the utilization of the equipment in productive
activity versus other non-productive activities. If the equipment
performed two different productive activities on the block, the
non-productive hours are prorated in proportion to each phase that machine
performed on the block to arrive at an available hours figure for that phase
of operation.
- Full Founded Rate: Full Founded rate for the unit of equipment (entered
under Setup | Equipment | Equipment Costing)
- Volume/Prod. Hr: The total volume (e.g., M3) harvested on the block (Cruise Volume will be used if “Use Cruise Volume” is checked) divided by the total Production hours
(Available hours will be used if “Use Available hrs” is checked)
- (Prod. Hr x FF Rate)/Volume: The Total Production hours multiplied by the Full Founded Rate and then
divided by the total volume (e.g., M3) harvested on the block (Cruise Volume will be used if “Use Cruise Volume” is checked).
Each panel in the report ends with a footer for the selected block.
The footer includes:
- Deliv Volume: Total of the volume( e.g., M3) field from the load slip. (The unit of measure is taken from the production unit of measure on the Block setup.)
- Cruise Volume: Estimated volume (e.g., M3)to be harvested from the block
- Cost/Volume Total: Each equipments Production hours (Available hours will be used if “Use Available hrs” is checked) multiplied by the Full Founded Rate are
totaled together and then divided by the total volume (e.g., M3) harvested on the block (Cruise Volume will be used if “Use Cruise Volume” is checked).
Key Notes:
- The report does not differentiate between header 'H' and detail 'D'
records
- You do NOT need to run the calculators for this report. (The reason is that
it calculates costs based strictly on the full-round rate set up in the
Equipment Costing window and the hours entered on the time sheet, and it pulls
volumes strictly from the load slips.)
