Report

You want to see the productive hours and corresponding costs associated with each of your company-owned equipment units (independent of the block where the work was performed), and you want to use your tree count information to get an idea of the costs per estimated volume associated with each equipment unit.

This report is most useful for companies that deck much of their wood, but still want to get an idea of each equipment units cost per estimated volume of production.

Focus:

Focus of Report is to provide productive hours and cost data for your company-owned equipment (by activity, but not by block). The report also provides production and costs per unit of production for those units where tree counts are entered on time slips.

Costs in this report are based on the standard hourly rate set up for each equipment unit. There is also a corresponding report (#504) that uses the full founded hourly rate, rather than the standard hourly rate.

Selection Window:

The selection window allows you to filter the report by:

Date Range: You can either select a pay period, or you can simply enter the start and end date directly into the selection criteria window. The Period selection is merely a short-cut for entering a date range, so you can always edit the start and end dates to be any date you choose. For example, you can pick a period defined as 8/1/2004 to 8/12/2004, and then extend the end date by three days to 8/15/2004. If you leave the end time blank, the program will assume you want the entire day for the end date. In the example below, the start date/time is 8/1/2004 00:00:00 (a blank is assumed to be time 00:00:00) and the end date/time is 8/15/2004 00:00:00. Because the end date time is blank (or 00:00:00), the program assumes you want the whole day of the 15th and makes the end date/time 8/16/2004 00:00:00. In the selection query, the program returns records whose start date/time is greater than OR equal to the start/date time and strictly less than the end date/time.
Equipment Unit. You can select any or all equipment units. The equipment unit list is only for your equipment; contractor-owned equipment is not on the list.
Your report can be sorted by date or by equipment unit. Example Report 1 (see below) is based on sorting by day; Example Report 2 (see below) is based on sorting by equipment unit.
The "Only Print Raw Data" option generates a report with the report detail, but with no subtotals or totals.

Detailed Description:

The selection criteria determine the date range and equipment that appear in the report. The report is based on the time entries for (1) Employees, (2) Equipment, and (3) Contractor Time, where the contractor is using your equipment.

The report shows the production cost for all company-owned equipment.

The report shows the utilization for all company owned equipment. The columns are:

Date. The date of the time slip (not date paid)
Eq Code The equipment code for the equipment unit
Equipment: The description (not code) field for the equipment unit
Activity: Activity coded on the time slip
Hours: Hours for time coded as production time for the equipment unit. In the Pay Activity Type list (Setup | Pay Activity Types), there is a check box for "Production Time". Any pay activity that is coded to a pay activity type checked as "Production Time" will be included as Production Hours in this column.
Equip Rate: Standard cost for the unit of equipment (shown under Setup | Equipment/Trucks | Equipment Costing)
Equip Cost: Hours multiplied by Equip Rate
Tree count: Tree count recorded on time slip
Volume/Tree: Volume per tree as entered for the Block where the work was performed
Estimated Production: Volume as calculated by tree count multiplied by the volume per tree ratio
Cost / Volume: Equipment cost divided by Estimated Production

Key Notes:

Report only covers Company-Owned Equipment (not contractor or rental equipment).
Time entries for (1) Employees, (2) Equipment, and (3) Contractor Time are selected where the date and equipment match your selection criteria.
Activity on Time entries must be coded as the "Production" basic activity type.
Report is based on Equipment Standard Cost to measure equipment cost. (There is another report (#504) that is identical to this one, but that uses fully founded rates.)
Report requires entry of Tree Counts on Time Slips. Tree count labels are defined by those configured in the database for time slip entries.
If two tree counts are enabled, the tree count columns (Tree count, Volume/Tree, Estimated Production) will be repeated and the Total Estimated Production will be the sum of production for the two tree counts. The Cost/Volume will then be computed as the Equip Cost divided by Total Estimated Production.
Volume/tree labels are defined by those configured in the database for blocks.
Calculators must be run for this report to be meaningful.

Example Report 1 shows the report where the selection "Sort by Date/Time" has been selected This version of the report is useful in that it shows the production cost by day for all your equipment and indicates the average production cost by date and over the selected date range.
