Data Entry: Load Slips

Select Data Entry | Load Slips | Load Data.  This window is where you enter or edit your load slips.  Click on 'Add' to enter a new load slip.

By clicking 'Add', you call up the load slip entry form:

The basic load data is shown on the right side of the load slip:

The load slip detailed information is organized into three tabs.

The first tab shows the basic attributes of the load.  The required entries for a load slip above are shown in yellow:

Load Revenue Tab (F6)

The 'Load Revenue Tab' shows the revenue earned on the load for each activity.  In The Logger's Edge you can either enter the revenue manually from your mill settlements or have The Logger's Edge calculate the amounts based on the revenue contract(s).

The columns are for the

You can click on the 'Add' and 'Delete' buttons to add or remove rows in the grid.

When you click add, The Logger's Edge will fill the Revenue Contract list with contracts that may qualify for the load.  Once you have selected the Revenue Contract, The Logger's Edge will fill the Activity list with activities from that revenue contract.  Once you select an activity,  The Logger's Edge will auto-fill the remaining entries based on information you set up on the revenue contracts.  If these auto entries are correct you can save them;  if incorrect you can edit them.

If you are entering revenue by hand as you receive the settlements from the mill, you may find it easier to do the actual data entry through the menu item "Data Entry | Load Slips | Load Revenue."

Load Activities Tab (F7)

The 'Load Activities Tab' shows the activities on the load.  The activities that are eligible for entry on a load are those that have been identified in the Block setup as being tracked and/or paid.

You can click on the 'Add' and 'Delete' buttons to add or remove rows in the grid.

When you click add, The Logger's Edge will fill the Activity list with activities for the Block identified for the load.  Once you have selected an Activity, the Equipment list will auto-fill with those equipment units that have that activity set up as an eligible activity. (See Setup Equipment Units)  The worker list will contain all active workers (employees and contract workers).

The Percent column is used to handle 'Split' loads -- loads where you need to pay more than one worker for the same load.  For example,  if you needed to pay two different employees for skidding one load, you would enter two rows -- one for each employee -- and then set the percent to allocate the weight (or volume) attributable to each employee.  If the sum of your percentages does not equal 100 percent The Logger's Edge will send you a message and will prevent you from saving the load.

If you are paying the equipment owner the full rate (inclusive of the operator), you do not need to enter the worker/employee on the load slip and vice versa.  On the other hand, if you are splitting the pay rate between the equipment owner and the operator (or his employer), you must enter both the equipment unit and the operator.

Some users find it easier to enter the equipment and/or workers for each activity on the load slip using the "Load Slip Activities" tab from the main load slip window (rather than the back tab of each load ticket) because they can enter the equipment for all tickets at once in the main activities grid.  In fact, some users like to export the grid of activities to Excel, enter the equipment and/or workers in Excel, and then re-import the activities using the menu item Data Entry | Load Slips | Import Load Activities.
