Setup: Employee Activity Rates (Production)

Do you pay your employees different rates for different activities?  For example, do you pay travel time at a different rate than you pay for other time?  If the answer is YES, then you can set up pay differentials by activity.  Go to Setup | Workers | Employee Activity Rates from the Main Menu.  Pick the employee and the activity --  travel, loading, felling, etc.  Enter the effective date.  This is the date that the differential begins to take effect.  The Pay Rate Differential is the amount of the differential.  The amount can be positive -- meaning a positive differential.  The amount can also be negative.  The checkbox tells the system whether your entry is a percentage entry or not.  If not, it is considered a dollar entry.  The 'Rate Type'  tells the system to apply the differential to the specific rate type -- e.g. the hourly, day or other type of rate basis for this employee.

Example 1.  You pay the activity Loading at $20 less than employee EJWILSON's normal base DAY rate.  You would enter -20.00 in the 'Pay Rate Differential' column and leave the 'Percent'  checkbox unchecked.  This entry tells the system to pay EJWILSON at his base rate less $20/Day for loading.

Example 2.  You pay a premium of $25.00/Day for the Yarding activity.  You would enter 25.00 in the 'Pay Rate Differential' column and leave the 'Percent' checkbox unchecked.  This entry tells the system to pay the guy at his base day rate plus $25.00.  (See row 4 below.)

Special Feature:  You can set up a differential for an 'ALL' employee, meaning that the differential will apply to ALL employees for that activity.  In the example below, note that I have the 'ALL' employee being paid a 5.00 negative differential for maintenance -- thus, all employees will be paid at their base day rate less 5.00%.  If I also setup a rate for a specific employee, that specific rate would trump the 'ALL' rate.  For example, if I set a specific employee's maintenance rate to be 0.00, that differential (no differential) will apply to him specifically.
