The Logger's Edge has two different time slip entry windows (as of version 4.4) that can be enabled, depending on user preferences. The original time slip entry window provides a single window for each time record to be recorded. Users with straightforward time slips (e.g., one or at most 2 time entries per user per day) tend to prefer the original window. Users with more complex time sheets that typically contain 3 or more entries per person per day may prefer the alternative window, which is described in this document. Key benefits of the alternative window include the ability to see all time entries for a given day all in one window, and the ability to copy the entire time sheet for a given day from one day to the next.
Note that the new window is available only for employee time slips. It is not currently available for subcontractor time slips.
2. Configuration StepsA Caribou Support representative must enable the alternative time slip entry using the password of the day. Once logged on as the administrator, select the menu item File | Basic Setup and click on the "OddBall" tab. Check the "Enable" box for the New Time Slip Form.

Close the program, and restart it in order for the new time slip window to be available.
3. Navigating in the New WindowThere is no difference between the main time slip navigation window in the original configuration versus the new configuration. When you select the menu item Data Entry | Time Slips | Employees | Enter Slips, you will get the same navigation window that has always been available for reviewing and editing time slip entries. The picture below shows this window, where entries are displayed for an entire period. Regardless of whether the entries are made using the original or new entry window, they can still be reviewed and edited in this window.
Main Time Slip Navigation Window
The differences in the original versus the new time slip configuration become apparent when you click on the Add button in the window above.
In the original configuration, a window like the following would appear upon clicking Add:
Original Time Slip Entry Window

With the new configuration, the following window appears instead.
New Time Slip Entry Window

Notice in this window, the user enters the employee the time slip number and the date as "header" information for this time slip. All remaining information is entered as "detail" rows within the time slip. Click the Add button to add one or more blank rows into the time sheet. Note that the header information (employee, slip number, date) on the time slip pertains to each of the individual rows, so each employee can have as many individual entries on a particular day as needed, and all the details are viewable in one window.

Again, all information entered in this window will be viewable and editable in the main time slip navigation window shown above.
Use the Clear button if you want to clear out the existing rows in a given time sheet and start afresh.
If you want to delete an existing row, simply highlight that row and click "Delete."
Use the Save/Add button to copy all detail rows for a given worker/day to another worker/day for ease of data entry.
Use the Save button if you want to ensure that the contents of all rows are saved.
Use the OK button to save all rows, and leave the new window entirely. 4. Tips for Using the New
Before clicking
the "Add" button to begin entering time slips, ensure that the "Date From" and
"Date To" dates encompass a date range corresponding to tickets you are about to
enter. The system helps validate your date entry by providing a warning if you attempt to save time entries that are outside this date range.

The first piece of
information you must provide for a new time slip is the worker. When you first click
"Add" from the main time slip navigation window, you will
be presented with a blank new entry window, as shown above. You can navigate through the list of workers
by using the down arrow on your keyboard when you first enter the window,
or by using the up and down arrows next to the worker list box.

Before you begin
adding detail rows, check that your date is set correctly. The date
will default to today's date. If you start
adding detail rows into your time sheet, and then realize your date is set incorrectly
for these rows, the system will try
to save your original entries before it allows you to change the date.
That is, if you have at least one row in your time sheet, and then you click on
the date field to change the date, you will be prompted with the following
message box:

If the original entry you made for the original date is incorrect, select No to ensure that the original entries are not saved. The system will then present you with a blank grid for time on the new date you have just selected. (If you want to carry over the entries you just made erroneously to the new date, you can do so by answering "yes" to the message box above, and then following the instructions below for copying time from one day to the next. You must ensure, however, that once you've completed your copy, you delete all records entered for the erroneous date!
Use the Save/Add
button to reduce data entry time if there is substantial redundancy in your time
sheets. The Save/Add feature acts much like a copy feature, but it allows you to copy all the detail rows in a given time sheet to a new time sheet, rather than just copying
one row at a time within a time sheet.
When you click the Save/Add button, you will be prompted with the following message box, where the worker and date fields will be filled with the current selection on the time sheet you just entered:

If you want to copy the entire time sheet for the same worker to a different day, simply select the new date in this message box, and click OK. The system will return you to the new data entry window, with the same worker, and the new day displayed at the top. All your detail entries will be in the grid, and you can simply make whatever edits are necessary for the new day.
Likewise, if you wanted to copy a time slip to a different worker (and the same or a different day), you would select a new worker and/or a new day, and the system would copy the entries accordingly.
Important Note: If you attempt to copy time entries to a worker for a day where you have already made entries, the system will display the existing entries for that worker/day combination, rather than over-writing those existing records. If you truly do want to replace the existing records with the ones you are attempting to copy, you must first delete the existing rows, and then perform the copy.
If you want to
review a worker's time slips on a day-by-day basis using the new window, use the
Save/Add button, and simply select the worker and day you want to review. The
system will display the existing records for that worker/day combination in the
new entry window. You can then navigate through existing time sheets by
changing the header information at the top of the window.
