Trucks, Cycle Time, by Truck

Why:
You need to determine the average round trip times for your trucks
Focus:
Focus of Report is to show truck cycle times. A cycle is defined as the
time to complete a round trip between a block and the mill. This provides
data of the length of time it takes to complete a round trip between a block and
the mill. It also allows you to determine any abnormally long (eg.,
doddling drivers) or short trips (eg, speeding drivers).
- Report covers all loads delivered by each truck
- A cycle starts at the time a truck first leaves a mill yard (Time
Out). The cycle ends when the truck comes back and next leaves the
yard. The cycle times are calculated on a daily basis; thus, the first load
of the day does not have a cycle time, but contributes the first exit time
of the day
- A configuration flag allows the report to be calculated using the entry
time (Time In) as the time entry for calculating cycle times. The
default value is Time Out.
- No payment detail is reported.
Selection Window:
The selection window allows you to filter the report by:
- Date Range: You can either select a pay period, or you can simply enter the start and end date directly into the selection criteria window. The Period selection is merely a short-cut for entering a date range, so you can always edit the start and end dates to be any date you choose. For example, you can pick a period defined as 8/1/2004 to 8/12/2004, and then extend the end date by three days to 8/15/2004. If you leave the end time blank, the program will assume you want the entire day for the end date. In the example below, the start date/time is 8/1/2004 00:00:00 (a blank is assumed to be time 00:00:00) and the end date/time is 8/15/2004 00:00:00. Because the end date time is blank (or 00:00:00), the program assumes you want the whole day of the 15th and makes the end date/time 8/16/2004 00:00:00. In the selection query, the program returns records whose start date/time is greater than OR equal to the start/date time and strictly less than the end date/time.
- Note: for report information that is based on load tickets, the report uses the Date Out (not the Date In).
- Truck. You can select any or all of your Trucks. The second
column shows the truck description and owner's name in parentheses.
- Block: You select the block(s) for which you want turn around times.
You can select any or all of the blocks
- The "Only Print Raw Data" option generates a report with the
report detail, but with no subtotals or totals.
- The Summary Data Only allows you to generate the report showing only the
subtotals by truck and block-destination combination. No individual
ticket data are shown.
- The 'Show Rev/Hour' option shows the revenue that you specifically earn
for trucking. (This option is only useful if you are paid for trucking
as a distinct pay phase.) The report will calculation the Rev/Hr as
the revenue you earn divided by the truck cycle time, yielding a measure of
your implied hourly earnings, even though you are not actually being paid by
the hour.
Detailed Description:
The selection criteria determine the date range and trucks that appear in
the report. The report is based on your loadslip entries.
The report shows the loads delivered by each truck
For each load, the columns are:
- Truck Code: Truck code (number) for the load
- Block/Dest: The dlock-destination combination for each load. The
loads are grouped by block-destination and averages are shown for each block
destination combination.
- Date: Date of the load
- Ticket: Load ticket number
- Prev Time Out: Previous yard exit time (previous load of the day)
- Time In: Entry time of the truck out of the yard of the current load
- Time Out: Exit time of the truck out of the yard of the current load
- Yard time: Time between entry and exit of the yard
- Trip time: Round trip time -- equals time between Prev Time Out and
Current Time Out
- In Avg: Is the trip in the reported average for the truck (Y = yes;
N = No)
- Cause: Reason load is not included in the average, such as the load
is the first trip of the day or because of a new day.
- Revenue/Hr (Optional): This column shows the revenue earned for
the trip divided by the round trip time. The revenue earned for the
trip is the amount that you were paid by the mill specifically for the
trucking phase for the load, regardless of the pay basis (per unit of weight
or volume or by load)
The truck averages are reported for yard times and trip times.
Key Notes:
- This report treats each day separately. If you have loads that are
hauled through midnight, this report will not include those loads in the trip
averages. There is another report that does handle trips that cross
midnight. See the report 'Truck Cycle Time'.
- The report treats 'split' loads as individual loads. The report does not use the load count field on the load slip.
- The report does not differentiate between header 'H' and detail 'D'
records.
- You must have load revenue entered for the trucking phase in order to make
use of the Revenue/Hr column.
